There's nothing worse than walking into a doctors appointment, receiving a 30-second diagnosis and being pushed back out the door with a script in hand. "Take two a day and come back and see me if you're still unwell in a week." The same applies when taking your animal to the vet.
At Parkes Street Vet we believe in taking the time to properly get to know you, your pet, your family dynamics and home environment. In doing so our team are better equipped with the information and tools to give your pet personalised care..
Working full time, 3 kids at school, managing your son's footy team and coaching netball? Perhaps prescribing two 1-hour walks a day to combat your dog's weight issue is not a realistic solution for you! We are here to listen and work within your parameters.
As a client at Parkes Street Vet you can expect a warm welcome and a team that are genuinely interested in getting to know you and your pet. Are they your first baby and sleep in your bed? Did they get you through a tough time? Or is it the local stray cat that you occasionally feed and watch out for? These relationships matter and impact how we can help your pet. And know that when they walk through our doors we will treat them like our own and provide the very best care we have to offer.

The Australian veterinary industry currently has a significant resource challenge - a distinct lack of qualified, experienced vets, nurses and other support staff. Understaffing, long hours and an often emotionally-charged work environment have resulted in increasing mental health issues amongst vet clinic staff and as a result many vets and nurses are choosing to leave the industry completely.
At Parkes Street Vet we are committed to recruiting and retaining a team that values excellence, fun and personal development. We believe that happy staff are more motivated to work hard for your pets and go that extra mile.
We provide large staff-only spaces for decompressing, we play music and love to dance. At times we'll even press pause for a development workshop or just for a special morning tea on Vet Nurse Day. We celebrate each other's successes and share the load when times get hard. Team work makes the dream work!

Parkes Street Vet is independently owned. This means that my husband and I own 100% of it. We don't answer to venture capitalists, we don't have to pass on the overheads of a national management team and we don't need to refer your animals to a specialist 'within the group'. You can be assured that our treatment plans are created with only the best care for your pet in mind.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly for us, we are locals! Your community is our community. We grew up in the area and came back here to raise our family. Our kids go to local schools and play sport for local clubs. We know all the local dog parks and best dog-friendly walking tracks.
We understand what you need from your local vet, because we are one of you.
